Our Black Bear hunts are on hold at the moment, we are constantly getting shut down by the mortality quota in our area. The mortality quota shuts the season down after 3 females have been shot anywhere in the area. The area is 2,500 square miles(1.6 million acres. yeah huge!) and holds bear in most of it. So if three guys shoot females everyone is done. The season was open for 3 days of archery fall 2009, it is supposed to be all of Sept for bow and all of October for rifle. as a result the area is infested with black bear and they are getting big. The one bear we shot this spring was 7'3" long and weighed 340lbs just out of hibernation. the 3 bears below from this fall are all bigger. This year also set a record for problem bears, breaking into cabins, camps and camp trailers, never before a problem. The game and fish is aware and they know the quota needs to be raised. The mortality quota should be decided by march and we will know if it is worth hunting. If your interested in bear hunting let me know and we can discuss it after the season is set. We have great bears, just need to be able to hunt them.
100% harvest! Rifle Bull Elk (11 hunters) and Archery Bull Elk (3 hunters).
Our mule deer hunts are back on. As many of you know we took 2009 off due to the previous harsh winter. Area 84 which was part of region W for the last 2 years is now back again to a limited quota area. Saw lots of great bucks this year and really anticipate the 2010 season. We are going to ease back in with only 4 guided rifle hunts, and 2 Archery hunts for the 2009 season.
Attention Cow Elk Hunters!
2009 Was the first year our area ever ran out of cow elk licenses, book early to avoid the chance of not being able to buy a license. I anticipate by the beginning of August there will be no more leftover tags.
We offer a Cow elk package for $1995 that includes the license cost. If your not successful in the first license draw we will automatically apply you for the left over tags in July.
Last year was the first year in our area with reduced price tags this makes it possible to hold a regular price bull or cow license and a reduced price cow. You can go home with 2 elk. If interested let us know.
